Introduction

This privacy policy describes how Qualta ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use our web application at qualta.co and our Chrome extension, Qualta Recorder.

Information we collect

Account information

When you create an account, we collect your email address, name, and any profile information you choose to provide.

Chrome extension data

The Qualta Recorder Chrome extension collects the following data to enable test recording functionality:

  • User interactions: Clicks, form inputs, and navigation actions you perform while recording a test
  • Page URLs: The URLs of pages you visit during test recording sessions
  • Element selectors: CSS selectors and element attributes needed to identify UI elements in your tests
  • Authentication cookies: We access cookies solely to maintain your authentication state with the Qualta platform

Web browsing activity

The extension collects web browsing activity only during active test recording sessions that you explicitly initiate. This data is required to generate test steps based on your interactions. We do not collect browsing activity when you are not recording a test.

We collect information about how you use our services, including features accessed, test cases created, and general usage patterns to improve our platform.

How we use your information

We use the collected information to:

  • Provide and maintain our test management platform

Data storage

Where data is stored

Your test recordings and account data are transmitted to and stored on secure cloud infrastructure hosted in the European Union. All data is encrypted in transit using TLS and at rest using AES-256 encryption.

Local storage

The Chrome extension stores temporary recording state and your preferences locally in your browser. This local data is not transmitted to our servers unless you explicitly save a recording.

Data retention

We retain your account data and test recordings for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal purposes.

Chrome extension permissions

The Qualta Recorder extension requires the following permissions to function:

  • activeTab: To record interactions on the current tab when you start a recording session
  • storage: To store your recording preferences and temporary session state locally
  • scripting: To inject the recording script that captures your interactions on web pages
  • tabs: To track navigation between pages during test recording
  • cookies: To maintain your authentication session with Qualta
  • Host permissions (all URLs): To enable test recording on any website you choose to test. The extension only activates on pages when you explicitly start a recording.

Data sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only in the following circumstances:

  • Service providers: We use third-party services to host and operate our platform, including cloud hosting and database providers. These providers only process data as necessary to provide their services.
  • Legal requirements: We may disclose data if required by law or to protect our rights and safety.
  • Business transfers: In the event of a merger or acquisition, your data may be transferred with prior notice.

Limited use disclosure

The use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We do not use or transfer data for personalized advertisements, data brokers, or credit/lending purposes.
